This 3.5" Japanese friction folder by Nagao Higonokami is a simple yet elegant knife that is more than capable of getting the job done. The handle is made from a folded sheet of black stainless steel and has kanjis (Japanese lettering) stamped into the side. The handle also hides the triple-layered SK steel blade perfectly when closed. The simple and effective lever on the blade assists with an opening. The handle is equipped with a lanyard hole making this simply designed pocket knife great for an EDC (Every Day Carry).
Currently, all Higonokami are handmade by artisan craftsman Mr. Mitsuo Nagao, the fifth generation of Higonokami makers.
Higonokami is patented. Although there are plenty of people trying to copy the design, Mr. Nagao is the only person on earth that is allowed to make the original Higonokami knife.

What is SK5 Steel?
SK5 steel is produced for tools and weapons where their edge and high performance can be counted on for demanding tasks.
Its property is similar to the American 1080 steel. On the HRC scale, it goes up to 65, which makes it very hard steel. It is a good, tough blade with high edge-holding ability.
The ‘Sandwich’ structure encloses hard steel with soft iron. Higonokai is a double-edged V-shaped, you can use either side, regardless of the dominant hand.
